Forestry Best Management Practices Workshop With Field Tour

October 2, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 2:30 pm

Free

A free Forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs) Workshop and Field Tour will be offered on October 2, 2020, at Red Oak Lake near Haughton, Louisiana, to provide information to forest landowners on how to make their woodlands healthier, more profitable, and sustainable.  This workshop is hosted by USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Trailblazer RC&D.

This workshop features best management practices–including controlled burning or prescribed burning–to help you maintain the health of your forest.  A controlled burn is a well planned and managed burn designed to reduce flammable forest debris, restore ecosystem health, recycle nutrients, and improve wildlife habitat.  At this workshop, you will learn from experts in forestry and conservation the local regulations on controlled burns, how to utilize this important forest management tool, and information on valuable financial and technical assistance.

On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020, at Red Oak Lake, 1495 Potter Road, near Haughton, Louisiana.  The workshop begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m.  Lunch will be provided, so it is important to pre-register for this workshop.  To pre-register or for more information on the workshop, call or text (318) 237-8350 and leave your name and contact information plus the name of the workshop.

Free registration for this workshop is made possible by the support of these partners and sponsors:  ENABLE Midstream Partners; Mudd & Holland Consulting Foresters, LLC; Allstate Land & Timber Co., Inc.; Burnham Construction; Canfor Southern Pine; Bossier Parish Police Jury; Webster Parish Police Jury; USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; and Trailblazer RC&D.
