All About Wild Turkeys: Population (Are They Disappearing?) With Larry Savage

Trailblazer RC&D works with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to bring wildlife habitat conservation information to landowners and managers.

As part of this effort, Trailblazer hosted a workshop on land management for wild turkeys. During this workshop, Larry Savage, retired biologist with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, discussed turkey biology, habitat requirements, management objectives, and technical and financial assistance that is available to landowners.

This video features clips on wild turkey population trends from that workshop.

NRCS offers technical and financial assistance to landowners and managers with conservation practices to improve wildlife habitat, such as conservation cover, tree/shrub establishment, field borders, prescribed burning, riparian buffers, and more.
